vintage 22 Slubby DK is a new wool decanted exclusive yarn. The Fine Fetlar yarn in the range is made from the fleeces of sheep living on the Shetland island of Fetlar - one of the most northerly of the Shetland islands. These fleeces would normally be sold to a wool broker but we were lucky enough to secure a small batch. The Devon Hardicott yarn in the range is made from the fleeces of Shetland sheep living in Devon. So two different fleeces from two ends of the UK!

Slubby yarn is something new to wool decanted - and we like it. The uneven staple of the yarn gives some thick bits and thin bits throughout it’s length and it produces some really interesting fabric textures.

The yarn has been semi-worsted spun to a 3ply DK weight by Ruth and David of the Rampisham Hill Mill, a fairly new mill based in West Dorset. What is really beautiful about this yarn are the natural Shetland colours. It’s available in 4 colours - Moorit, Grey, Speckled White and White. All completely natural!

Its a lofty yarn, full of character. Try it - we think you’ll like it!

Make something to treasure!

Recommended care: hand wash cool. Dry flat.
